Description
Since 1973, Bill Weis has been imparting his wisdom to generations of students in the Albers School of Business and Economics. Having served as a faculty member for 51 years, Bill announced his retirement last month. Bill is one of our most beloved professors and the longest serving faculty member in Albers history. Many alumni have shared that what they learned from Professor Weis has stayed with them throughout their career and their life.
Bill largely impacted two groups of students while at Albers, undergraduate accounting students in his first quarter century, and MBA students in his most recent 25 years. To honor him and lift-up these disciplines in perpetuity, he is creating an endowment to provide scholarships for both undergraduate accounting students and MBA students. Bill also has demonstrated a commitment to students with financial need who have been otherwise underserved, so this endowment will be established to have a preference for students meeting those criteria.
Why are donations necessary?
Philanthropy has always been important to Bill so we are establishing the Bill Weis Legacy Scholarship to honor his legacy of impact. Bill is committed to matching dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000 in gifts made to this fund. We are almost there! During Seattle U Gives, we aim to raise the remaining $10,000 to meet Bill’s challenge.
