Description

The Sundborg Center for Community Engagement (CCE) connects classroom, campus and community to promote a more just and humane world. The CCE is the hub for the Seattle University Youth Initiative (SUYI). Launched in 2011, this signature initiative unites campus and nearby neighborhoods to support youth and families. Our "cradle-to-career" network prepares local youth for success.

Donations are applied to...

The Redhawk Academic Mentoring Program (RAMP) and Change Makers High School Cohort. As part of the Seattle University Youth Initiative’s (SUYI) cradle-to-career network, RAMP at Washington Middle School connects Seattle University students with middle school scholars. The program offers 1-on-1 mentoring, classroom support for teachers, and a bridge to the 8th grade Change Makers High School Cohort. SU mentors and scholars build relationship and work to support their social, emotional, and academic development. The Change Makers High School Cohort empowers scholars to be active leaders in their communities while preparing them for post-secondary pathways. Through 1-on-1 meetings, small groups, and workshops, the program engages local high school youth and their families to see themselves as vital parts of their schools and the larger community. Seattle University is committed to granting each eligible high school graduate from this program the tuition necessary to attend our institution.

Why are donations necessary?

All gifts to SUYI during SU Gives will fund the Redhawk Academic Mentoring Program at Washington Middle School (RAMP) and the Change Makers Program. These programs aim to create a place for scholars to find support in others, grow skills and relationships, support academic achievement and social-emotional well-being, and engage families in the learning process and decision making. Your donations will help scholars and families see themselves as vital parts of the school and larger community, and feel ownership of their education, which will lead to increased academic performance.
