Description

The Fostering Scholars Scholarship Program provides financial aid, academic coaching, a supportive community and a transformative college experience to students who have experienced the foster care system. Since 2006, over 90 scholarships have been awarded to cover undergraduate tuition, books and fees, year-round housing and a range of academic and personal supports to promote the educational attainment of these exceptional students.

70% of youth in the foster care system would like to attend college one day. Seattle University's Fostering Scholars program help makes that dream a reality.

Program Outcomes

  • 67 graduates (Summer 2024)
  • 15-22 scholars enrolled annually
  • Fostering Scholars' comprehensive program of support makes it a national model and one of the only programs of its kind at a private, independent university.
  • Scholar alumni are successfully pursuing careers and post-graduate degrees in a wide range of fields including accounting, cancer research, law, nursing, education, software development and social work.
  • Fostering Scholars Challenge

65 gifts to Fostering Scholars will unlock an additional $20,000 thanks to Pat & Joe '66 Desimone.
