Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons continues to evolve to meet the needs of 21st-century students, faculty and staff.
The Lemieux Library at Seattle University provides comprehensive academic and personal support through its staff and collaborative partnerships. Students have access to nearly 1 million physical and digital titles in-house and over 21 million titles via the Orbis Cascade Alliance.
Extending beyond physical spaces, the library offers virtual support for tutoring, research help and writing assistance. With the goal of fostering a dynamic educational experience tailored to diverse student needs, it features specialized spaces such as computer labs equipped for VR/AR, 3D modeling and data science, as well as the ability for students to borrow technology like cameras, audio equipment, and laptops for off-site use.
The McGoldrick Learning Commons, operated by the Learning Commons Partners includes:
- Billodue Makerspace (located in the Sinegal Center)
- Learning Assistance Program
- Math Lab
- Media Production Center
- Research Services
- Writing Center
The McGoldrick Learning Commons supports learning through the co-location, coordination, and enhancement of student-centered academic services. Complementing the classroom experience, it helps students in all disciplines pursue their intellectual goals in conversation alongside peers, experts, and with access to scholarly and creative resources.
Specifically, the Library Makerspaces empower the Seattle University community by providing the resources to explore digital and physical making in spaces that are grounded in inclusivity and open-mindedness. The Billodue Makerspace offers many program activities such as learning fiber arts, jewelry making, repair sessions and using digital fabrication techniques like laser cutting and 3D printing. The Media Production Center provides resources for video, photo and audio production, along with opportunities to learn about animation and generative AI.
