Fostering Scholars

The Fostering Scholars Scholarship Program provides financial aid, academic coaching, a supportive community, and a transformative college experience to students who have experienced the foster care system. Over the past 15 years, Fostering Scholars has awarded 80 full scholarships to cover undergraduate tuition, books and fees, and year-round housing in order to promote the educational attainment of these exceptional students.

 

Program Outcomes

  • 46 graduates
  • 24 scholars currently enrolled
  • A retention rate of 83% 2006-2019
  • Fostering Scholars' comprehensive program of support makes it a national model and one of the only programs of its kind at a private, independent university.
  • Scholars alumni are successfully pursuing careers and post-graduate degrees in a wide range of fields including accounting, cancer research, law, nursing, software development and social work.

Every Gift Matters

As part of the Campaign for Seattle University we are focused on building a strong Fostering Scholars endowment fund to designate funds for this program in perpetuity at the university.
