Student success and wellness are inextricably linked. This idea is at the heart of the Jesuit commitment to Cura Personalis, the care of the whole person. Wellness and Health Promotion is dedicated to ensuring that our students stay healthy and well so that they can fulfill our institution’s mission to be “leaders for a just and humane world.”
Wellness and Health Promotion provides services ranging from online screening and individual consultations to wellness clinics and large events within our four focus areas: mental health, alcohol and other drugs, healthy relationships, and physical well-being. While students most frequently recognize us for our quarterly “de-stress with dogs” program which boasts an average attendance of over 375 students, we also host stress management and relaxation clinics, sleep hygiene programs, flu clinics, sexual assault awareness month programming, and much more. In support of these efforts, Wellness and Health Promotion educates and trains our Heath and Wellness Crew (HAWC), a group of nationally certified peer health educators, who work within the SeattleU community to improve the health and wellness of their peers.
In the end, our primary goal is to help students make choices that support their personal well-being. By contributing to Wellness and Health Promotion, you enable us to provide valuable education and personal support to future.
$5 provides an appreciation gift bag for a therapy dog and handler that participates in de-stress with dogs.
$25 allows a student to attend our bystander intervention and empowerment training.
$50 distributes 10 cold and flu kits.
$100 trains a nationally certified peer health educator.
$250 allows 40 students to participate in the REFRESH sleep hygiene program and distributes sleep hygiene kits to each student.
$500 trains 25 students, faculty, and staff in Mental Health First Aid, a program that helps communities to understand and respond to people in distress.
$1,000 subsidizes the cost of sexual assault awareness month programming.
